In a passionate call to action, Human Rights Activist, Teens Kids Coach, and World Peace Ambassador, Comrade Amb DCN Ogaga Darlington Ossai, President, and Founder of the Value Reorientation Initiative (VRI), emphasized that Universal Basic Education is not a privilege but a civil right. Addressing the pressing issue of over 18.5 million out-of-school children in Nigeria, the highest globally, he urged Federal, State, and Local Government Authorities to prioritize the educational needs of the nation’s youth.
Comrade Amb DCN Ogaga Darlington Ossai criticized the trend of politicians engaging with the common masses only during elections, emphasizing the need for sustained efforts beyond political seasons. He urged political leaders, from local representatives to the presidency, to recognize the importance of their roles in fostering grassroots development. Rather than indulging in extravagance, he stressed the significance of channeling resources toward educational initiatives.
During the “Make a Child Smile 2023” event held on October 23rd, 2023, at Efe Primary School, Otorho-Orogun, Comrade Amb DCN Ogaga Darlington Ossai inspired children with a message of hope. He encouraged them to believe in a better tomorrow, emphasizing the pivotal role of education, determination, and reliance on faith in achieving success.
The Value Reorientation Initiative’s “Make a Child Smile 2023” project has been instrumental in providing educational support across Delta State since 2019. Several communities, including Ujevwu, Ekete, Ovwian, Ughelli, Igbuku Orogun, and Otorho-Orogun, have benefited from this initiative. Through these efforts, VRI continues to make significant strides in promoting basic education and empowering the younger generation.
