Atamu Social Club, a prominent non-profit organization dedicated to socio-cultural advancement, has announced the election of new executives. The organization’s new leadership, elected in March 2023, includes President Mr. Matthew Ogagaworia, Vice President Dr. Benson Uwheru, General Secretary Mr. Edwin Efekokha, Treasurer Mr. Valmon Toby-Lade, Financial Secretary Mr. Celestine Okorigba, Publicity Secretary Captain Jonathan Nani, Provost Mr. Igho Obajuwana, and Assistant Secretary Dr. Philip Ejogbamu.
As part of the new leadership’s agenda, Atamu Social Club will host its 11th annual retreat on May 24th – 28th, 2023.
The retreat’s theme, “Ekpobaro 2023: Industrializing Urhobo Land Through Entertainment & Tourism,” highlights the entertainment and tourism industries’ potential for economic growth in Urhobo land. The Vice President and Chairman of the retreat committee, Dr. Benson Uwheru, says that the guest speaker for the event will be renowned scholar and expert in tourism and cultural studies, Prof. Sunny Awhefeada.
In addition to the retreat, Atamu Social Club is partnering with an NGO to provide a free medical outreach program for the community. The retreat will also host the 7th Finishing School for young people to teach website design and digital marketing skills. The finishing school will take place at Gordon Hotel & Resort (McCarthy Beach), Abraka.
